PAINT STUDIO
ON GOING SERIES
Like collage painting has always been part of my life. Unlike collage painting requires ample space and longer periods of time, two things I wrestle with, out of habit and trauma. Where collage allows me to be intuitive and quick, painting asks me to plot and sit with myself and my thoughts and music, a precarious scenario for a conscience on the run.
Today as an old man I paint because it is a language I enjoy speaking. I know it's slang and can defend myself in conversations. Painting in the context of my time at the end of capitalism and the decay of the American culture I paint not to sell painting or show in galleries, but to assume my role as timekeeper and trickster of my history.
